Beelink has mande an interesting announcement as of today (time of this post). They have introduced a new ME series of storage devices. These are targeted for personal and home users in mind. The ME series will provide an easy and reliable way to store and manage your personal data. This will expand Beelink's product portfolio from just being mini PC based to include storage solutions.
Beelink ME Series models
The ME Series name is inspired by the word "ME" will focus on personal data security and family use cases, including storing photos, etc. The lineup will include three different models:
-
ME mini (Launching in late March)
-
ME Pro
-
ME MAX
Each model is designed for different use cases, from simple backups to high-performance storage solutions. I am highly interested in the later description that is obviously speaking more to the ME Pro and ME MAX. It will be interesting to see what specs these devices have as I am of course always on the lookout for great home lab storage solutions.
Let's now look at the one that we at least have specs on at the moment, the ME mini.
ME Mini features and specs
The first release in the series is the ME mini. It is built for daily data management at home, during travel, and for photography enthusiasts as we will see in the features below.
Key Features of the ME mini:
🔹 Large storage capacity โ The ME mini has (6) M.2 SSD slots. These will support storage capacities of up to 4TB per disk for a total capacity of 24TB. It will have pre-installed Crucial SSDs.
🔹 Portable and small โ It weighs only 730 grams and measuresย 99ร99.2ร98.3 mm. This will mean the ME mini has an extremely small footprint and is easy to carry. It has a built-in power adapter which means you won't have a bulky external power brick. All you need to do is just plug in an AC power cord, and youโre ready to go.
🔹 Quiet and efficient โ Traditional 3.5-inch HDD-based NAS solutions are usually noisy and draw quite a bit of power. When compared to traditional storage NAS units, the ME mini is fully SSD-based. This eliminates any mechanical noise. When it is at full load, its noise level remains below ambient room noise. It also uses a new convection cooling technology which will help the SSDs run cool. Cool storage means longer life and more stability.
🔹 Win-NAS storage service โ Another interesting feature is the ME mini uses Windows' built-in NAS storage service. This will allow you to have a seamless mobile-to-PC connection inside your local network for easy data copies and backups.
🔹 Multi-Use capabilities โ It has a built-in x86 processor architecture (although the blog post from Beelink doesn't specify which processor), and dual 2.5Gbps Ethernet ports. The ME mini will have enough horsepower to function as a NAS, run virtual machines, serve cloud storage, be a target for data backup, and other use cases.
Beelink storage future
The launch of the ME series for Beelink will help to expand the company's reach in the community and pro-sumer market. However, like their mini PCs, I suspect home lab enthusiasts will find a way to incorporate Beelink storage into their lab environments.
The ME mini is officially launching in late March. They have yet to release the details on the ME Pro and ME MAX, but these will soon follow, so stay tuned for more updates on that front.
