In case you haven't been following, Crucial recently released 64 GB SODIMM modules. It means the RAM limitation that we have been stuck at for a while with 48 GB modules in DDR5 mini PCs has now been lifted to 64 GB modules. Now with Mini PC models that support 2 RAM slots, we have the possibility of 128 GB of system memory.ย
However, many, including myself were a bit hesitant when the new 64 GB modules appeared last week, wondering if these would be compatible with mini PCs that we are all running and current models we may have inside the home lab.ย
I received my 128 GB kit today and immediately installed these in my Minisforum MS-01 mini PC to see if there were any issues with installing this kit in the MS-01. I am pleased to say that the kit was fully recognized by the MS-01 and the total of 128 GB of RAM was shown in the VMware ESXi DCUI screen.
It looks like the RAM is fully supported by the CPU and BIOS. I am actually behind a BIOS version on this particular MS-01.
You can buy the RAM using the Amazon links here (which i get a small commission on if you purchase from here):

RAM training time
Do be advised, you may have a panicked few moments as when you install the 128 GB kit in the MS-01 and power it on, it will show a black screen for what seems to be quite a while, during which time it is training the system memory for the installed RAM. This will only happen the first time though.ย
