If you are managing multiple Amazon AWS accounts, you may be taking advantage of AWS Control Tower. With control tower you have what is called the landing zone. What is a landing zone?
It is part of the well-architected framework that allows you to efficiently manage multiple AWS account environments. It is referred to as the starting point so your organization can launch and deploy workloads with security best practices in mind. It allows you to setup governance of your infrastructure as you want to.
If you have received a message that you need to upgrade your AWS control tower landing zone, take a look at the steps and screenshots of the process below.
When you log into your Amazon AWS console and navigate to Control tower, you will see a banner similar to this:
When you click the banner, you will see the landing zone versions available and the one you are on currently.
Click the radio button of the version you want to update to:
The update landing zone wizard will begin.
Next, you will see a list of the regions that will be affected by the update:
Next, you will confirm how you want to manage access to your AWS accounts and cloudtrail configuration:
Confirm the organization-level trails
Confirm to update the AWS control tower landing zone.
The update of the landing zone begins.
The landing zone update completes successfully.
